Nibi gaa-bimaaji’iwemagak. Water gives life.
This blog represents individual writers as community members of Chequamegon Bay and Anishinaabe Gichi Gami (Lake Superior). On the Chequamegon Bay and Anishinaabe Gichi Gami our identities are tied in with the water the flows through these places we call our home. Through this blog we will share stories and knowledge so that we can care for Nibi (water), who gives life to us and all those we depend on.
Today, Nibi is threatened by Enbridge’s Line 5- which poses serious, known threats within the Bad River Reservation. This is a modern Wendigo, but we are not alone. Telling stories is how we find community and strength in our common care for Nibi.
